Ali Imaan and Aishath Sausan selected to take part in the Tokyo Olympic games, as swimmers, which is to be held this July.
The participants who are to participate in the Olympics were taken from a training held from April 23rd till the 5th of May.
Imaan got 3140 points in the trial. His competitor Mubaal Azzam Ibrahim got 3024 points. Sausan secured her post in the Olympics by getting 2997 points while her competitor Aishath Saajina got 2905 points.
As Imaan and Sausan have secured their places to part in Olympics, on the Olympics held in Rio, Brazil in 2016, two swimmers from the Maldives Aiminath Sajan and Nishwaan Ibrahim competed and a national record was achieved.
The Olympics which are to be held in Tokyo this July is actually the Olympics of 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has postponed it to this year.
The Olympic was scheduled to begin on the 24th of July however the starting date has been changed to begin on the 23rd of July and end on the 8th of August.
Paralympics are scheduled to from the 24th of July to the 5th of August 2021.
