Due to some changes made to the schedule, Maldives’s team is set to play against Seria in the joint qualification of FIFA World Cup / AFC Asian cup.
Previously these matches were said to commence centralized in china. However, these sudden changes to the schedule were made due to China prohibiting some countries including Maldives to enter the country. As for now the matches are said to be played in Dubai. Moreover, when this decision was made, Maldives’s team was camping in Dubai.
The matches that were scheduled to be played in China were said to start on May 30th till 15th of June. Maldives’s first match was supposed to be on 3rd of this month. However, as per the changes that are made right now, Maldives’s first match will be played on 4th of this month.
Maldives has 3 matches left. As per the schedule that was previously made for this AFC cup, Maldives was to play against china on 3rd June. Afterwards they were to be competing with Seria on 7th June and against Philippines on 15th June.
After the last test that was taken, 2 players in Maldives’s team has tested positive for Covid-19 and the 2 players are Ali Ashfaq more commonly known as (Dhagandey) and Ali Shamin known as (Thoppey). After their quarantine period ends they will be able to compete in the match against Philippines on 15th of June.
