Mohamed Aslam, the leading football icon of Hdh. Naavaidhoo, first started playing football in his childhood at the age of 11 years with his friends.
Now at a prime age of 34, Aslam has achieved many milestones in his futsal career. He brought victory to his island in the Atoll Champion as well as the Zone Champion in the Golden Futsal Challenge in 2018. He also won the Atoll Champion in the Golden Futsal Challenge in 2019 and played in the 3rd division to his island club.
During his interview with Tekkers, Aslam shared his dream is to participate in all atoll level tournaments and win all the championships to bring honor and pride to his island.
He also expressed his favourite football player and his role model is Ali Ashfaq (Dhagadey). In addition to this, he shared Ahmed Hameedh and Visham, as the best players in Hdh. Naavaidhoo. Aslam has played with both of them in various tournaments.
Aslam also stated that, “Visham is very quick in the pitch and I am always confident to play against with him.”
Aslam shared one of the challenges that he currently faces in his Fustal career is that, there are fewer tournament in his island as well as in Haa Dhaal Atoll. As a result, Aslam finds it very difficult to keep up with his fitness level. Aslam also believes that there are good potential players in Maldives and that we need to give them more opportunities.
