N. Henbadhoo futsal fiesta organized by the council of N. Henbadhoo where the first tournament for the event is to be conducted on the island. The fiesta was organized for the youth of N. Henbadhoo and the council intends on conducting the tournament on a yearly basis. The first match is to be held on the 25th of June 2021, this Friday.
During our interview, with a member of the council, he mentioned that the purpose of this tournament is to create a love for futsal within the island, in addition to creating excellent players as well to be the best island in futsal in the atoll.
The tournament is open for all ages in Henbadhoo; however, school students can only participate with a permit from their parents or the school. The tournament will be conducted for 7 days, and all the matches are planned to play at night only. He was pleased to mentioned that there are four teams that are to participate in this year’s tournament; Chums New Generation, Amigos, Dribble X as well as Chums Sports Club.
The championing team of the tournament will receive the prize of MVR 5000. The runner-up team is to receive MVR 2500 and the fair play team will be receiving MVR 1000. Moreover, the best player in the tournament will be awarded as the “futsal king of N. Henbadhoo.”
According to the council-man, he expressed that the biggest difficulty during the organization was to overcome the problem of finding sponsors. He further elaborated by mentioning, that this tournament, is being held without the help and aid of sponsors and faced immense difficulty in budget. However, the hope of the council is that in the upcoming years, N. Henbadhoo futsal fiesta will receive help from sponsors. The target of the councilmen for this tournament is for it to complete it will and provide more opportunities for the youth of the island.
