The work to construct the futsal pitch of Aa. Mathiveri began in 2014 and was completed in 2016, where it was opened to the public. It has been present for a total of five years and counting.

The futsal pitch is 45 meters in length and 25 meters in width making this, the biggest futsal pitches in the Maldives.

The futsal pitch was constructed by the Villa foundation as well as the Youth Ministry and Club associations in Mathiveri.

As a result of the huge size of the pitch, there are huge tournaments held in Mathiveri. For instance, Union Sports Club (USC) conducts one of the biggest futsal tournaments, annually, in Mathiveri in Eid Al-Adha. In addition to that, AMSA also conducts One Day Cup, on each Fitr Eid.

The council president was also pleased to tell us that due to the size of the pitch, number one futsal players play in Mathiveri and this in turn, helps to promote Aa. Mathiveri and helps the business on the island.

During an exclusive interview with the council president, he expressed that the futsal pitch is not open 24 hours a day. He further elaborated by saying that the futsal pitch is open from 4pm to 6pm and again at 8pm to 10pm. And that, while a tournament is underway, the futsal pitch will be open according to the tournament schedule.

The council president also expressed that, all the citizens of the island obey this rule and consequently, the council president believes that, as a result, the futsal pitch has been able to last until now.

However, the council president mentioned that there are some areas that need to be repaired on the futsal pitch. Moreover, he also said that the youth ministry must give more opportunities to all the youths of Maldives. He believes that with good opportunities along with excellent facilities, will be extremely beneficial to the youth.
