The football Association of Maldives has submitted the bid to host the SAFF Championship 2021.
The FA has announced that the Maldives has submitted the bid after Bangladesh withdrew last month. The defending Champions hosted the SAFF Championship in 2008 as joint hosts along with Sri Lanka. With the motto "Aharumenge Faharu" (our turn), Maldives won their first-ever international tournament by beating India in the final in Sri Lanka.
The Football Association has thanked His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his Youth and his Minister for Youth, Sport and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof for "constantly aiding us in achieving our objectives", and for their support in hosting the AFC Cup group matches that are scheduled for later this month.
