The Maldives Champion Maziya Sports and Recreation Club will face the Bangladesh Champion Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Cup South Asian Group match, today at 9 p.m. in the Maldives national football stadium.
Maziya Sports Club is the only Maldivian club in the AFC Cup South Asian group. Bangladesh Bashundhara Kings, India's ATK Mohun Bagan, and Bengaluru FC are the other teams in the AFC Cup South Asian group. Bengaluru FC finalized the last spot in the AFC Cup South Asian group stage after defeating Maldives Club Eagles 1-0 in a playoff match.
While Maziya Sports Club is competing in the AFC Cup, they held a training camp in Saudi Arabia before the competition. Maziya has played three friendly matches while in camp. Maziya defeated Al-under-19 Ittihad's team 2-1 in the first match. Maziya's second match was against the Alwehda club, and the match finished in a draw with no goals scored. in the third match, Maziya Sports Club's faced Jeddah FC, which concluded in a 2-2 tie.
Maziya Sports Club coach Risto Vidakoic stated that Maziya has a significant role in Maldives football in the AFC Cup, and that Maziya will face the AFC Cup to defend Maldives football, and that the team would give 100 percent in all matches.
