With a score of 2 – 1, Maldives defeated India in the final. The Maldives has won the SAFF Championship Trophy twice. Maldives defeated India to win the first SAFF Championship title in 2008.

The SAFF Championship will be played in a league this year, with the top two teams advancing to the final. Five SAFF countries have participated in the championship. Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh are the countries that participated. Bhutan has decided not to participate due to the country's Covid-19 level, and Pakistan has been suspended by FIFA.

Two matches will be played every day during the championship, which begins on October 1st. Maldives will play against Bangladesh in the second match on October 6th. On the 8th of October, Maldives will face Sri Lanka in the third match, and on 11th of October, Maldives will face India in the final last match of the league.
