The introduction of indoor cricket by the Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) was followed by the reveal of the logo for the work planned to further develop cricket in the future. The event organized and held at the indoor cricket court was honored by the presence of the president of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and vice president, Faisal Naseem. Along with executives from CBM, players who were and currently in the national team had joined the event.
To initiate the introduction of indoor cricket, a special game was played in which even the president himself and the vice president also participated in. Moreover, other VIPs in the cricket background joined in on the match as well.
The president of the cricket board, Mohamed Faisal stated that as with other sports, they also faced a lot of difficulties. Covid-19 being the main root of the problem. Furthermore, he has stated that to bring up and develop youth level players, a special youth development program structure has been created and they will commence the process as soon as they get the go ahead from the education ministry. Moreover, standard operation procedures have been implemented in all departments of CBM administration and all the work will be carried out by adhering to strict rules and management as stated by the president of CBM.
CBM is also prioritizing work which has a plan aimed to be complete by 2030. A lot of work regarding the plan is being conducted in addition to assigning partnerships. Some other work regarding this includes the logo “Hithaai Roohun Kulheyshe Cricket”, which was revealed in the event. The logo was designed by the talented Abdulla Shafeeu (Abo).
Furthermore, a lounge which was gifted to the national cricket team by Milan Cricket Academy was opened as well. The lounge named “Jaleel Maalam” is dedicated to the father of Farhath Jaleel (Faroo) by Farhath, who is the president and co-founder at Milan Cricket Academy. In the name of the whole cricket family, Faisal has sent his utmost gratitude to Farhath for gifting such a valuable gift for cricket in the Maldives.
