Dr. Ary da Silva Graça Filho, President of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), paid a courtesy visit to the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC). Dr. Ary da Silva Graça Filho paid this visit to MOC to speak with MOC's Executive Committee and the Maldives Volleyball Association (VAM).
Mr. Steve Tutton - Head of Technical & Development Department, Mr. Hitesh Malhotra - Sports Development Department, Ms. Anna Manuelian - Corporate Communications Department, and Ms. Lara Marich - Tour Planning and Partnerships Manager from Volleyball World accompanied Dr. da Silva Graça Filho on this visit.
Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar - President of MOC, Mr. Mohamed Tholal, Mr. Ahmed Ismail - Vice Presidents, Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed - Secretary General, Mr. Mohamed Raneysh - President of Volleyball Association of Maldives, and Mr. Ali Ashraf - Vice President of Volleyball Association of Maldives, were present in the meeting for the discussions with Dr. da Silva.
Discussions took place about how FIVB can help VAM improve volleyball in the Maldives with the help of MOC. Dr. da Silva Graça Filho emphasized the importance of the FIVB's role in technical aid and announced that the FIVB will assist VAM by providing a coach for a two-year period.
He also mentioned that the Maldives may be eligible for scholarships in areas recognized by the VAM and the MOC. Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar, President of the Maldives Olympic Committee, thanked FIVB for their assistance and reaffirmed his complete support to FIVB and VAM in the development of volleyball in the Maldives.
