Maldives' most skilled table tennis player, Fathimath Dheema Ali, has qualified for the World Junior Table Tennis Championship. This is the first time a Maldives player has qualified for the tournament. Dheema has been qualified for the under 15 singles category for the tournament.
A total of 24 players participate in this tournament. Including rising talented table tennis players from various other countries who qualified for the tournament by competing in the qualifying rounds same as Dheema. Dheema is currently in the top 20 of the under 15 category.
The tournament will take place from December 2nd to 8th. This is one of the biggest tournaments in the junior level category. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the president of the Maldives, praised Dheema on her achievements following her qualifying for the tournament, wishing her luck, and believing she will continue to make the country proud. Dheema had also reached the quarter finals in the recently concluded World Table Tennis Youth Contender tournament held in Oman.
