In order to prepare for the coming season, Maziya Sports Club has gone to N. Kendhikulhudhoo for a training camp.

Maziya stated that they would stay there for 10 days. In the past few years, Maziya has started to travel to different islands for training camps. But last year, due to Covid 19 they were unable to travel to any island. But in order to prepare for the AFC Cup, Maziya had traveled to Qatar in July.

Maziya had gone to Adh. Mahibadhoo in 2019 for a training camp as well. Maziya is preparing for the new season with lots of improvements. They assigned Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) as their new coach. After that, they were able to sign two Maldivian national team defenders, captain Akram Abdul Ghanee and Haisham Hassan. They were even able to steal Nepal national team’s captain and goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong.

Last year’s champions’ Maziya will play in the Charity Shield Match next month in order to commemorate the new season. They will face off against last year’s runners-up Club Valencia. The new season will begin on December 15.

Last year, the league had to be canceled after just two stages due to Covid 19. Since Maziya was at the top of the league table, they were crowned as the league champions.

Maziya is the only Maldivian club that has qualified for next year’s AFC Cup group stages. Club Valencia must play in the qualifying’s to get a spot in the group stages.
