The National Swimming Championship has come to a close, and in the senior category, Hamna Ahmed has won the women's title while Mohamed Aan Hassan was the best swimmer among the men.
Aan and Hamna had also participated in the Champion of Champions tournament held earlier in October and won the best swimmer’s titles.
This tournament had been going on since this month’s 19 up to last night at Hulhumale swimming pool. In the men’s category, the runner-up was Hussain Haaish Hassan while Mohamed Rihaan Hassan got third place. In the women’s category, Hamna got first place after coming above Aishath Sausan. Sausan was unable to participate in the Champion of Champions tournament due to being tested positive for Covid 19 earlier.
In the senior women’s category, both Jumeira Aminath Amir and Aish Alin Afsal had gotten the bronze medal.
Hamna had won 200m and 400m individual medley event, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle, 50m, and 100m breaststroke, 50m, and 100m backstroke, and 50m and 100m butterfly event.
If we look at Aan’s achievements, he had won 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle event, 50m and 100m breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly event. He had also won the 200m individual medley event.
In the junior category, the best girl swimmer was Meeral Ain Latheef while Hanaan Hussain Haleem came in second place. Third place was taken by Ayana Areef. The boy’s category was won by Izyaan Nazim. Yaaseen Mohamed Yoosuf got second place while Maakin Ahmed Shakeem came in third.
In the Masters tournament, Hassan Ashraf was the men’s winner. Hussain Mubaah got second place and Ahmed Faiz got third place. In the Master’s women’s category, Jeehaan Ahmed got first place while Aminath Mubaarik got runners-up.
Maldives Lifeguard Association won the men’s team category. Rivering Sports got runner’s up while Sports Nature got bronze. In the women’s teams, Rivering Sports got first place, MAL got second place and Moodhu Maalimee got third place.
