Club HDC has gotten closer to the second round of the Club Maldives Cup after defeating Road Recreation Club (RRC) 1-0 in last night’s fixture.
In Club HDC’s first match of the tournament, they had beaten previous champions United BML 3-0. The match played last night at Rehendhi Futsal Stadium 1 was won by Club HDC by a small margin.
In the first half, HDC’s keeper Fayyaz Fayaz (Faitte) had stopped the deadly ball sent forward by RRC’s Ibrahim Maisaan (Mai). The attempt towards goal by HDC’s Yameen Mohamed (Yaante) had hit both the goalposts and then went back in to play. Mohamed Riffath (Rippe) saw this opportunity and hit it on the rebound only for it to go out of play after hitting the post.
RRC’s captain Ibrahim Asvadhu (Gabey) was a victim of a lot of fouls by HDC last night, and Gabey’s attacks were well defended by HDC. The only goal of the match was scored at the 31st minute by HDC’s Ibrahim Rimaah (Rimey). He intercepted a pass from RRC’s Ali Shaamis (Thoppey) and stole the ball and hit it onto the far corner out of the keeper’s reach.
RRC had gotten a few opportunities to get a goal back. A shot by Gabey had gone inches above the post and a free-kick sent towards goal by Abdullah Midhuhath Fahumy (Bichad) was saved by keeper Faitte.
HDC is at the top of Group D with 6 points after 2 matches. RRC is currently in second place with 3 points in 2 matches. Third place Fen Club and fourth place BML United has no points from 1 match.
HDC will play against Fen Club in their last match. They can go to the second round after getting at least 1 point in that match.
Dhiraagu, who drew against Club Immigration in their first match won against Planning Ministry 7-2 last night. The goals for Dhiraagu were scored by their national team player Ahmed Haisham (Chumpu) who scored a hattrick, Ibrahim Atheeg (Ibbe), Huzaifthullah Ibrahim, Fauzaan Habeeb, and Hassan Jumail. Both goals of Planning Ministry were scored by Mohamed Mauroof Hussain. With this, Planning Ministry has lost both of their games.
Rajje Online (ROL) and Aviation Security (ACSECOM) who both lost their first matches faced off against each other last night. This competitive match was won 4-3 by ROL. This match’s man-of-the-match, ROL’s Airoon Ahmed Rasheed had scored a hattrick. The other goal was scored by Yoosuf Rameez (Ramee) who plays for Club Valencia in the First Division.
AVSECOM’s goals were scored by captain Haashim Khalid (Haatte) and Zammath Mohamed Waheedh. AVSECOM had got a lot of opportunities to score a goal, but they were unable to make use of their chances.
Dhivehi Sifainge Club who had lost in their first match against MPL had won last night’s match against Club 220 (PG) Office by 5-2 goals. Sifainge Club’s goals were scored by Ahmed Shaihaan Jaleel, Abdullah Sujaau, Mohamed Alaau, and Ibrahim Thoif. Club 220’s goals were scored by Ali Ikram and Ahmed Saamih.
Tonight, there will be 4 matches of the Club Maldives Cup played. Ooredoo will play against Medianet and Club MTCC will face off against Maldives Gas. Police will play against Trade Club and Stelco will face Male’ City Council.
