Club Maldives women’s division 18/30 Futsal Fiesta’s last year’s champions MPL and, Dhivehi Sifainge Club won yesterday’s matches and have advanced to the semifinals.
Sifainge Club won against Police Club 1-0 in yesterday’s match. MPL won against Fenaka in the other match by 3-0. Sifainge Club and Police Club reached the semifinals with one game to spare.
The only goal scored by Sifainge Club in yesterday’s match was scored by their captain Mariyam Rifa. She had received the ball from her Bangladeshi teammate Matsushima Sumayyaa and she finished it into the bottom corner. Police Club’s captain Fadhuwa Zaahir was substituted at the first half due to an injury.
Police team’s Lebanon two players Nancy Chalian and Seline Al Haddhadh and Maldives national team’s player Fathmath Theeba were not able to make use of the opportunities they got. Sifainge Club’s goalkeeper Saaiga Hussain had stopped a lot of chances sent forward by Police Club.
The effort by Sifainge Club’s Bangladeshi star to score a second goal was stopped by Police Club’s keeper Aminath Leeza. Police Club tried to equalize until the last minute, but Sifainge Club’s defense did not budge.
Sifanige Club confirmed a spot in the semifinals by winning all 3 of their matches and earning 9 points. Police Club is in second place after securing 3 points in 3 matches. Trade Club has been unable to get any points yet.
In the other match, MPL’s Tajikistan forward Madhin Fazilova had scored 2 goals against Fenaka. Their third goal was scored by Fathmath Juzaan Zareef. Juzaaz plays for the Maldivian Volleyball team as well.
MPL is on top of the second group with 7 points in 3 matches. Second place WAMCO has earned 2 points in 2 matches. Last place Fenaka has only 1 point.
