Club Maldives Cup: Fenaka and FSM are into the second round | Hope for BML

30 November 2021

Last year’s champions United BML secured a crucial win last night in Maldives’ biggest futsal tournament Club Maldives Cup. Fenaka and FSM also won their matches and have moved onto the second round.

Former champions BML lost against HDC 0-3 in their first match. However, they won last night 5-0 against Fen Club. FSM defeated Club Immigration 1-0 after a competitive match and Fenaka had defeated Prison Club 4-0.

In the match played at Rehendhi Futsal Stadium 2, BML had scored 3 goals in the first 12 minutes of the match. Three minutes after the match started, Ishaan Ibrahim (Sattu) gave a wonderful pass to Saamin Mohamed Naseer who then scored the opener of the match. In the 10th minute, Sattu scored the second goal for BML assisted by Saamin. Two minutes later, Sattu had scored his second goal and BML’s third goal of the match.

Not long after the second half started, Sattu had scored another goal and completed his hattrick. BML’s last goal was scored by Ahmed Mahdhoom who came on from the bench. The match’s man-of-the-match was BML’s Sattu.

Every team in Group D has played 2 matches now. HDC is on the top of the group with 6 points. With this, HDC has confirmed a spot in the second stage. Second place BML and third place RRC has earned 3 points. Last place Fen Club has not earned a point yet. There are 2 matches left in this group. BML will have to face RRC in one of those matches. The winner of this match will travel to the second stage with HDC. If the match ends in a draw, BML will go to the second stage with goal difference.

FSM’s goal that secured their win was scored by Mohamed Jumaan. In this match, Club Immigration had heavily criticized the referee’s decisions. Immigration’s Ahmed Wisaam (Gerrard) got 2 yellow cards followed up with a red card.

Each team of Group E has also played 2 matches. FSM had won both the matches they played and confirmed a spot in the second stage. Second place Dhiraagu has earned 4 points. Club Immigration is in third place with 1 point and fourth place Planning and Ministry have not earned a point yet. Immigration can now only go to the second stage if they win against Planning and Ministry in their next match with a big goal difference and if Dhiraagu loses against FSM in their last match.

Fenaka had won against Prison Club last night and confirmed a place in the second stage. Fenaka’s first goal was scored by their captain Hussain Shareed (Only). Their other 2 goals were scored by futsal star Ayaz Ahmed (Aya). Their last goal was scored by Maldives National Team’s midfielder Yasfaadh Habeeb (Mulakey). Prison Club had gotten a lot of opportunities to score but they were unable to make use of the chances they got.

Fenaka confirmed their second stage spot after winning both the games they played and gaining 6 points. Second place Prison Club and third place ROL both have 3 points. Last place AVSEC has lost both their matches and went out of the tournament. The second team who will go to the next stage from this group will be decided from the match between Prison Club and ROL.

MPL had played against Civil Court last night and won 4-1. With this win, they have gotten closer to the next stage.

MPL’s goals were scored by Ahmed Hussain, Hassan Ibrahim, Naaih Mufeedh, and First Division player Ahmed Nizam (Nizambe). Civil Court’s only goal was scored by First Division Club Green Streets player Mohamed Saaif.

MPL is at the top of Group G with 6 points. Second place Dhivehi Sifainge Club and third place Club 220 both have 3 points. Fourth place Civil Court is out of this tournament with no points earned.

MPL can go to the second stage even if they get 1 point in their next match against Club 220. Even if they lose against Club 220, if Dhivehi Sifainge Club wins against Civil Court in the other match, then they are into the second round.

There will be 6 matches played in the tournament tonight. Men’s Division 4 matches and Women’s Division 2 matches.
