Club Maldives Cup: STO and WAMCO moves closer to the second stage

Club WAMCO and STO won last night’s matches in the Club Maldives Cup and move closer to the second stage.

 

After a competitive match, STO won 6-4 against MMA Social Club. Club WAMCO with their famous players defeated Youth Ministry 10-1.

 

STO played their match in the Rehendhi Futsal Stadium 1 last night. Ismail Wajeeh (Wajje) had scored a hattrick for STO in the first seven minutes of the match helping STO gain a big lead. Before the first half ended, Ahmed Husaam scored 2 goals for MMA and gave them some hope for the second half. With that momentum, Mohamed Affan equalized for them not long after the second half started.

 

As soon as MMA equalized, STO took a time out and calmed their team. They went back into the pitch with a change, Iyaan Ahmed Rasheed was subbed in. STO’s captain Mohamed Shaah scored for them in their next attack. Not long after, substitute Iyaan had scored another goal for STO. However, MMA’s substitute Naif Mohamed scored closing the gap once again. Wajeeh secured the 3 points for STO after scoring his 4th goal of the match. He was awarded the man-of-the-match.

 

STO is at the top of Group H with 6 points from 2 matches. Second place MTCC and third place Maldives Gas both have 3 points. Fourth place MMA does not have a point.

 

In the last match of the group stage for STO, they would have to face Maldives Gas. Both teams have the chance to go to the second stage. MTCC can also move on to the next round if they beat MMA in their last match of the group stage.

 

WAMCO scored a stunning 10 goals against Youth Ministry. The man-of-the-match Ali Hafiz (Haappe) scored 5 goals, Mohamed Imraan (Immi) scored 2 goals, and Ali Shiyah, Ali Nazim, and Ibrahim Shauf each scored 1 goal. Youth Ministry’s only goal was scored by Minister Ahmed Mahloof. His goal was assisted by State Minister Ashadh Ali (Adubarey).

 

WAMCO won both their matches and is at the top of Group C with 6 points. Second place Male’ City Council and third place STELCO both have 3 points. Fourth place Youth Ministry is out of this tournament with no points.

 

In the last matches of this group, WAMCO will play against City Council and Youth Ministry will play against STELCO.

 

In the matches played by Group D last night, MACL won against Customs by 3-2. After losing 2 matches, Customs are out of the tournament, while MACL got closer to the second stage with this win.

 

In Group B, Hulhumale Hospital won against Allied by 3-2. In the first match they played, Allied lost against Police Club, and Hulhumale Hospital lost after facing Trade Club.
