Club Wamco and STELCO Club have secured a spot in the Club Maldives Cup second stage after winning their group stage’s last matches.
Other than these two teams, the teams that secured a spot in the second stage yesterday were MACL, Ooredhoo, Police Club, and Trade Club. Yesterday evening, Police Club and Hulhumale Hospital’s match ended in a 2-2 draw. Trade Club won against Allied by 5-2. In last night’s matches, Customs won against Medianet by 5-1, MACL won against Ooredoo by 2-0, Wamco won against City Council by 3-2 and Stelco won against Youth Ministry by 2-1.
In the match between Hulhumale Hospital and Police Club, Hulhumale Hospital took the lead with Abdullah Faarish’s goal. However, Police Club came from behind and scored 2 goals to take the lead. Police’s goals were scored by Mohamed Shifan and the man-of-the-match Ali Fahmy. The equalizing goal for Hulhumale Hospital was scored by Hassan Solah.
In this group’s other match Trade Club played against Allied who was already out of the tournament. Trade Club’s Jumail Jameel (Jumbe) and Saifaan Ahmed Manik both scored 2 goals in this match. Their 5th goal was scored by Ismail Ihthiraam. Allied’s goals were scored by Gaisan AbuBakuru Ibrahim and Ansar Ibrahim (Anko). This match’s man-of-the-match was Trade Club’s Jumbe.
Police Club is at the top of Group B with 7 points. Trade Club is in second place with 6 points. Hulhumale Hospital finished their tournament with 3 points in third place of the group. Fourth place Allied were not able to get a point in the tournament.
In the match between MACL and Ooredoo, the goals for MACL were scored by Ali Shafiu and Azyaan Ibrahim. Customer had defeated Medianet in their match, but Customs was already out of the tournament even before the match. Customs’ Hassan Noorish scored a hattrick in this match and Mumthaz Abdul Rasheed scored 2 goals in the match. Medianet’s only goal was scored by Moosa Azeem Hassan.
Group A’s first place MACL and second place Ooredoo both have 6 points. But MACL is on the top due to the goal difference. Third place Customs and fourth place Medianet both have 3 points.
In last night’s match between City Council and Wamco, City Council’s goals were scored by Young National Team Player Ahunaf Rasheed (Ahukko). Wamco’s goals were scored by Ali Hafiz (Haappe), Abdullah Shaffan (Shaaka), and Ali Shiyah. In this group’s other match, Stelco defeated Youth Ministry after a competitive match. Youth Ministry took the lead with National Team player Gasim Sammam (Samme)’s goal. Stelco changed the tide of the match with futsal star Ali Maais (Matte)’s two goals.
Wamco is at the top of Group C with 9 points after winning all 3 of their matches. Second place Stelco has 6 points while third City Council has 3 points. Youth Ministry finished the tournament without getting a point.
The fixtures of the Round-of-16 will be decided after a lucky draw.
