Dheema Ali and Sukurat Aiyelbegan were partners in the ongoing Table Tennis Youth Championship held in Portugal. However, due to some complications, Sukurath Ayulbiga could not make it hence Dheema losing the chance to play in the tournament.
Vice president of TTA Ibrahim Shiury, the coach/manager of Dheema stated that Sukurat could not attend the match due to some complications with her PCR test.
"From what we know Sukurat was ready to arrive here (Portugal). The complications with the CPR were made known after she boarded the flight. That’s why she could not participate in the tournament" Said Shiury.
He also stated that Sukurat not being able to attend the tournament was a great loss to Dheema and the whole of Maldives’ Table Tennis. The Duo was set to play against Chang Pu-Syuan from Chinese Taipei and Ser Lin Qian from Singapore.
"(Sukurat) Not being able to compete in the tournament is a huge loss. Maldivian TT would have been greatly benefited if she was able to participate" said Shiury
