The top-flight teams of the Club Maldives Cup 2021, including Road Recreation Club (RRC), MPL, FENAKA, and STO have all won their round-of-16 matches and moved to the quarterfinals.
The matches were played on Thursday night. RRC had won their match against Dhiraagu by 8-3. MPL won 6-1 against Ooredoo. Team FENAKA had beaten Stelco 3-0 and STO continued their winning record by defeating Trade Club 5-1.
In the match between RRC and Dhiraagu, RRC’s first goal was scored by Ibrahim Aswadh (Gabey). And within 7 minutes of the second half, RRC had scored another 5 goals. These goals were scored by Gabey, Ismail Muneez, Ibrahim Maishaan, Ali Shifau (Rona), and Adam Nasih (Aadhannaa).
Yooh Naseer and Ibrahim Atheeg Hassan (Ibbe) had scored 2 goals for Dhiraagu. But after this, RRC’s Abdullah Midhuhath Fahmy (Bichad) had scored their seventh goal for them. Yooh scored another goal for Dhiraagu but RRC finished the match with a goal from Ali Shaamis (Thoppey) adding up to 8 goals.
MPL’s Mohamed Yafaau (Yaa) who won the man-of-the-match had scored a brace against Ooredoo. Other than him, Hassan Nimal, Sinaan Ibrahim Rasheed, Naaih Mufeedh, and Ahmed Imaaz (Aakko) had scored for MPL. Ooredoo’s only goal was scored by Hussain Athif.
FENAKA’s goals against STELCO were scored by Ayaaz Ahmed (Aya), Ahmed Haleem (Ammadey), and Rimah Abdul Ganee (Bobby). From them, Aya had previously played for STELCO. The man-of-the-match was Ammadey.
STO’s goals against Trade Club were scored by Inaan Ahmed, Ameen Ibrahim, Shaan Ahmed, and Ismail Wajeeh (Wajje) who scored 2 goals and got the man-of-the-match. Trade Club’s only goal was scored by Saifaan Ahmed Manik who had played well for Trade Club during the tournament.
