Prison Club and Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) have advanced to the semifinals of the Club Maldives Cup after winning last night’s matches on penalties.
Prison Club moved to the semifinals after defeating MACL on last night’s quarterfinal 7-6 on penalties.
The match’s full-time score was 2-2. MACL had scored the first 2 goals of the match. MACL’s goals were scored by Ahmed Hameed and Azyaan Ibrahim. However, they were not able to hold their lead. Prison Club’s Adam Mansoor and Saneem Shaamil’s goals had equalized for them.
But Adam Mansoor was unable to score in the penalty shootout. MACL was knocked out after Ali Shafiu and Abdullah Suzair missed their penalties. The successful penalties of MACL were scored by Sayyah Abbas, Mohamed Musthofa, Azyan Ibrahim, and Hassan Samhaan. Prison Club’s penalties were scored by Muruthaja Mohamed, Saajidh Rasheed, Ahmed Shamal, and Hussain Nabeeh.
FSM traveled to the semifinals after defeating tournament favorites, HDC 7-6 on penalties. FSM had also defeated strong WAMCO in the second round of the tournament to the shock of many fans. The full-time score between FSM and HDC was also 2-2. The first goal of the match was scored by FSM’s Mohamed Nafiu Ahmed. After that, Ahmed Sizan had scored a goal for HDC. HDC then took the lead with Ibrahim Rimah’s goal. But before the end of the match, FSM’s Ahmed Vijudhaan had equalized for them.
HDC was knocked out in the penalty shootout with a penalty miss from Sizan. FSM had scored all the penalties they took. After Sizan missed his penalty, FSM’s Naif Shafeeg had scored the next penalty and confirmed a spot in the semifinals. FSM’s other penalties were scored by Mohamed Thohir, Vijudhaan, Mohamed Simhaan, and Mohamed Amjad.
With this, FSM will have to play against Prison Club in the semifinal. The last 2 quarterfinal matches will be played tonight. MPL will play against Road Recreation Club (RRC) and STO will play against FENAKA.
