Maldives has lost all 3 of the volleyball-friendly matches played against Sri Lanka’s National Volleyball team here in Maldives.
These matches were played to prepare for the Central Zone Volleyball Championship in Bangladesh that is starting this month. Sri Lanka won the first 2 matches with ease as well.
Even though Maldives lost their third match played last night at Social Center’s Indoor Court by straight three sets, there were improvements seen by the team in this match.
After a competitive rally, Sri Lanka won the first set by 25-18. Even though Maldives didn’t perform well at the start of this set, they gradually started to play better as the set went on.
Lanka won the second set by 25-17. Maldives wasted a lot of their serves during this set and Lanka took advantage of this. The third set started very evenly, but Lanka came out on top at the end winning the third set by 25-19.
Maldives has played similar friendly matches back in 2019 against Sri Lanka as well. This was also to prepare for the Central Zone tournament at that time.
Maldives will participate in the tournament in Bangladesh under Mohamed Saajidh (Kaattey)’s instructions this time. The Women’s National Volleyball team will also take part in this tournament. There are currently 15 players in the Men’s National Squad. Out of them, 12 players will go to the tournament in Bangladesh. The team is currently planning to have a training camp in India before the tournament starts on the 21st.
The teams that are participating in the Men’s Division this time are Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh.
