Maziya wins the Charity Shield Match played to commence the new season. They won by a 5-0 lead against Club Valencia and made a new record last night.
With this win, Maziya has won the Charity Shield 4 times now and is the leading Charity Shield holder in the country. This record was previously with VB Addu FC who had won the Charity Shield 3 times. Maziya had won the Charity Shield in 2015, 2016, and 2017 in the past.
Maziya had earned the opportunity last year as well to break this record. But they lost this opportunity after their defeat against Club Eagles in the match.
Maziya had a great game last night under coach Mohan’s instructions. This year also, Maziya is well prepared for the football season. This was seen throughout the match.
The winner of the Charity Shield earns a prize money of 100,000/-. A certain amount of that money has to be donated to charity. Charity Shield’s support is given to Tiny Hearts and Blind Association.
The first goal for Maziya was scored by Ibrahim Aisan (Tony). The second goal was scored by Ibrahim Waheedh Hassan (Ibbe) after winning the boal from a mistake of the Valencia defenders. The third goal of the match was scored by Konelias Stewart (Koney).
Maziya had earned a penalty in the second half of the match. This penalty was scored by Hamza Mohamed. Maziy’s fifth and final goal was scored by Hussain Nihaan (Nihaat).
Valencia was only able to create only 2 big chances to test Maziya’s goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong in the whole match.
The first tournament of the season is President Cup. The President Cup will start on the coming Sunday. The President Cup is played after 2 years due to Covid 19. The cup will be played in a league format. The top 2 teams of the league will play in the final of the Cup.
