Maldives National Volleyball team has won both the matches they played against India’s Hyderabad Spikers Club. These matches are being played in order to prepare for the upcoming Central Zone Volleyball Championship.
Maldives won the first match played on Thursday night by defeating Hyderabad Spikers by 3-1 sets after coming from the back. Maldives won last night’s match by 3-1 sets as well. The sets went 25-13, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-19.
The match played last night inside Social Center was commemorated by Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof.
As soon as the match started, we saw the team spirit of Maldives team. The first set was fully dominated by Maldives. Hyderabad Spikers took a timeout in the first set to try and get into the match, but they were unable to do so in the first set. They were also unhappy with some decisions of the referee. Maldives was in a good form and ended the first set by 25-13.
Maldives played well at the start of the second set as well. Maldives even went on a 7-0 lead. But this time, Hyderabad Spikers took timeouts and showed a difference in the court. In the last stages of the set, Hyderabad Spikers took the lead for the first time in the match. The set was really competitive from this moment onwards. Hyderabad Spikers came out on top in the end winning the set by25-23.
Hyderabad Spikers took the lead as soon as the third set started. But Maldives fought back and equalized at 12-12 points. During the late stages of this match, Hyderabad Spikers’ Ajey was injured and had to be substituted. Maldives played well and went on to win the set 25-20.
Hyderabad Spikers started the fourth set strong as well. But they couldn’t keep their form for long leading to Maldives equalizing 7-7. Maldives changed the course of the game from that moment onwards and maintained a lead. Maldives took the set 25-19 and won the match.
The last match against Hyderabad Spikers will be played today at 16:30 in Social Center Indoor Court. The Volleyball Association of Maldives has urged supporters to go cheer for the team.
