Maldivian swimmers finished the World Swimming Championship after breaking multiple National Records

The 4 athletes who participated in the Fina World Swimming Championship finished the tournament after breaking multiple national records.

 

The athletes who competed in this competition held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and broke the records are Mohamed Aan Hussain, Imaan Ali, Hamna Ahmed, and Aishath Sausan.

 

They broke a combined total of 9 national records during this competition. The tournament went on from December 16 until yesterday.

 

Hamna Ahmed, Aishath Sausan, Imaan Ali, and Mohamed Aan Hussain had represented the Maldives and completed the 4x50m mixed medley relay event in 02.05.97 and 4x50m mixed freestyle relay event in 1.50.76 and broke these 2 national records.

 

This event was first participated by the Maldives in the 14th Fina World Swimming Championship (25m) in 2018. The players in the team during that time were Hamna Amed, Aishath Sausan, Imaan Ali, and Mubaal Azzam Ibrahim. That time, the 4x50m mixed medley relay event was finished in 02.14.46 and the 4x50m Mixed Freestyle Relay event was finished in 01.57.70.

 

Sausan broke the National Women’s Record this time in the short course 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke events. She completed the backstroke 100m event in 01.14.03 and the 200m backstroke event in 02.43.61. The national records of these events were previously also held by Sausan. This was when she made the record back in 2019 during the 13th South Asian Games. That time, she finished the 100m backstroke event in 01.15.76 and the 200m backstroke event in 02.52.37.

 

Imaan broke the men’s short course 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke national records. He finished the 400m freestyle race in 04.24.45 and the 100m backstroke race in 01.03.02. Imaan is the one who previously also held the national record of the 100m backstroke event. He did that record back in 2019 in the 13th South Asian Games by finishing the race in 01.05.26. The person who held the 400m freestyle event’s national record was Mubaal Azzam Ibrahim. He made the record in the same competition by finishing the race in 04.40.28.

 

Mohamed Aan Hussain broke the men’s 50m freestyle event’s national record during the tournament. The record made by Nishwan Ibrahim back in 2016 during the Fina World Swimming Championship by finishing the race in 00.25.73 was broken by Aan during this competition by finishing the race in 00.25.00.
