Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has received a request from Nepal asking to play two friendly football matches between Nepal and Maldives National Team.

Nepal wants to play these matches in Nepal. But Maldives is trying to host it here in Maldives.

These matches were requested to be played next year. Nepal requested for the matches to be played in Pokhara City’s Stadium. The dates that the matches were scheduled to be held are very cold days for Nepal during that time.

FAM mentioned that they would come to a decision about whether to play these matches or not very soon. While they have gotten this request, National Team’s Coach Francesco Moriero had also mentioned that he would like to play a match in the coming month.

Nepal and Maldives are very competitive countries within the region. In the recent SAFF Championship held in Maldives, Nepal had beaten Maldives. This was the first time that Nepal had defeated Maldives in the SAFF Championship history.
