Three times MotoGP world champion racer Jorge Lorenzo has visited Maldives.
Jorge Lorenzo was warmly received by Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and Minister of Youth Ahmed Mahloof in Velana International Airport on Monday. To welcome Lorenzo, there were some Maldivian motor racers at the airport.
While speaking to the media Lorenzo said that he is happy about visiting Maldives for the second time and Maldives is a wonderful place to spend holidays. He also mentioned that he is thrilled to meet Maldivians motor racers. Moreover, he said that for motor racers, the most important things are good equipment and good track.
Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof said that Lorenzo visiting Maldives is an achievement and the changes the racers are anticipating will be witnessed soon after the development of Gulhifalhu.
Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom also said that the government’s biggest priority is to promote Maldives as a sports destination. He also mentioned that in the future there are plans to conduct different international tournaments in Maldives.
Jorge Lorenzo has won the MotoGP world championship 3 times and he is the winner of 250CC world championship twice. He retired in motor racing, in 2019.
