Maldives National Volleyball Team loses their last match of the Central Zone Volleyball Championship against Sri Lanka by 3-1 sets.

Maldives who started the Cup in a difficult situation lost their first match against Bangladesh in straight 3 sets. They lost their second match against Uzbekistan by 3-1 sets. And Maldives lost against Nepal by straight 3 sets as well. Maldives had played well against Sri Lanka in yesterday’s match.

The sets of the match went 25-19, 24-26, 25-23, and 25-19. Maldives took one set against Lanka in this match. Earlier this month, Maldives played 3 friendly matches against Lanka and lost all 3 matches without taking even one set.

In this match, Maldives had given a chance for the young players of the squad to get some hands-on experience. From this, players from the VAM’s Excellence Program such as Maaish Ahmed, Ahmed Nafiu, and Shamil Mohamed had all come on to play at some point in the match. Nafiu played the longest of these three. He had played well during the match.

With this win, Sri Lanka has won in their last match on the league stage before the final.
