The champion teams of the 8th Milo National Handball Tournament Second Division are Redhawks Sports Club and Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC).
The second division men and women’s finals were played on the 29th of December at the National Handball Ground. Redhawks won the women’s final after defeating K. Guraidhoo Isleno Sports Club by 13-23.
The queen-of-the-match in this competitive match was Redhawks’ goalkeeper Aishath Wirasha. She had stopped multiple attempts sent towards goal by Isleno.
A total of 12 teams participated in the Women’s Second Division. They were divided into 3 groups. Redhawks and Isleno who competed in the final also came from the same group. Redhawks topped this group after winning all their matches.
The final of the men’s Second Division was played between Islanders Hope Sports Club and DSC. After a very competitive match, DSC came out on top by 21-20. The first half of the match ended in 10-10. Islanders Hope was in the lead for a long time during the second half, but DSC came from the back and defeated them.
Even after losing the match, the man-of-the-match was won by Islanders Hope’s Mohamed Mauroof.
This was the only time that Islanders Hope was defeated during the tournament. They were in the same group as DSC as well, and they had won all the matches of the group stage.
