Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced that the association is working on resuming Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL) this month 21st.
Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League was halted after Health Protection Agency (HPA) released their new and improvised set of guidelines on 3rd of last month, due to increasing number of Covid-19 cases in greater Male’ area. All the clubs of the first division said that due to the temporary halt, the clubs and all the players are facing great difficulties. Therefore, they requested to resume the league soon.
Due to the displeasure of the clubs for the loses and difficulties they are facing, HPA and Fam recently associated and allowed the practice of the clubs to be resumed, with following all of HPA’s new guidelines. Nonetheless, during this phase the reinstitution of the practice have temporarily been said to stop for two weeks. However, all clubs started their practices last Sunday while following the new guidelines the clubs have to follow.
FAM General Secretary Hussain Javaaz declared that they have set their eyes to kick off the league on 21st of this Month. However, the league’s starting date will be assured seeing what other turn of events this point has got ahead for everyone and upon further confirmation from HPA. Javaaz also stated that with the set goal to start the AFC cup qualifying round they will have to look out for all of that.
While FAM is trying to resume the league, all club players and officials took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
