NYG has been crowned the champions of the MTCC Rahvehi Challenge 2021.
They defeated Sports Club Fahulavaan in the final match yesterday evening at the Nilandhoo Football Ground.
The full-time score of this match was 1-1 so the winner had to be decided over penalties. NYG won the penalty shootout by 8-7.
In the first half of the match, neither of the teams was unable to get many chances to score. NYG came back strong in the second half and had taken the lead. They scored this goal by a penalty they won. This goal was scored by their captain Faruhaadh Ismail (Farey).
After NYG scored, Fahulavaan and upped their game as well. Their efforts paid off when they equalized in the 86th minute of the match. This goal was also scored from a penalty that they earned after a foul from NYG’s keeper in the penalty area. The goal was scored by midfielder Zaidh.
After the final, the various winners and partners of the tournament were awarded. The man-of-the-match of the final was Fahulavaan’s Ahmed Raabiu. The best defender of the tournament was NYG’s Faaroog Ismail and the best midfielder was Fahulavaan’s Ahmed Zaidh. The top forward of the tournament was Fahulavaan’s Adil Ali and the most promising player was NYG’s Muslih Moosa. The best coach was NYG’s Abdul Jaleel and the top scorer of the tournament was NYG’s Faruhaadh Ismail (Farey) with 4 goals.
The Fairplay team was awarded to SGC. The best player of the whole tournament was NYG’s Faaroog Ismail. The trophy for the champion team was awarded by the chief guest Nilandhoo Council Member Abdul Muhsin Hameed. The champion team received a prize money of 20,000/- while the runners-up received a prize money of 10,000/-.
