Tekkers Milo Championship Maldives Cup is starting on Friday, 14th January in HA. Hoarafushi.
Tekkers Milo Championship Maldives Cup, is a futsal cup tournament open for all the islands of the Maldives to participate in. The tournament will go on all around the Maldives starting from HA atoll and the tournament will proceed in the order from top to bottom. Each atoll will have a host island that the tournament will be held on.
Islands from each atoll will play against each other and the 2 teams on the top of the group will be playing in the atoll final. After the atoll final, the winner will have to play against the next atoll’s winning island. This will decide the Block winner. Block 1 winner would have to play against Block 2’s winner and this will decide the Zone champions. The 4 Zone champions will be competing in the semifinal. Once the 2 teams playing in the final are confirmed, the host island of the final will be decided by a coin toss between the 2 islands.
The Zones are as follows:
Zone 1: Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal, Shaviyani, Noonu
Zone 2: Raa, Baa, Lhaviyani, North Male’
Zone 3: South Male’, Vaavu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, Meemu
Zone 4: Thaa, Laamu, Gaaf Alif, Gaaf Dhaal, Gnaviyani, Seenu/Addu
Zone 1 islands registration due date is the 7th of January; however, other Zone’s islands can still participate until a week before their Zone’s matches starts. The participation fee for the tournament is MVR 3500/-. Team members must be registered to the island that they are representing in the tournament and players of all ages are welcome to represent their island.
There are over 55 islands that have participated in the tournament up to now and participation is still open for islands that are interested. The Champions of the tournament will receive a prize money of MVR 50,000/- and the runners-up will receive a prize money of MVR 25,000/-. Zone Champions and Atoll champions will receive awards and medals for example, top 5 players, best manager, most promising player, etc.
