Male’ City Council has stated that 26 teams have taken part in the Male’ City Park Volleyball tournament that will go on during Ramadan.

Out of these 26 teams, 14 are men’s teams while the remaining 12 teams are women’s teams. Male City Council stated that even though the tournament is set to begin on April 7, this date is not final yet. While they are working on the schedule, their goal is to finish the tournament before the last 20 days of Ramadan.

HDC had previously hosted the Park Volleyball tournament twice before. The tournament held this time in partnership with Male City Council and the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) is the most expensive Park Volleyball tournament ever.

The men’s and women’s divisions are set to be played separately and 5 top teams would be selected from each division. Both division’s first-place team would receive a prize money of MVR 45,000/- while the second-place team would get MVR 25,000/-. Third place teams would get MVR 15,000/- and fourth place teams would receive MVR 10,000/-. The teams that finish in fifth place would receive MVR 5,000/-.

According to the tournament guidelines, only clubs/organizations that are registered under the Commissioner of Sports can take part in the tournament.
