The turf construction of N. Maafaru football ground, has been handed over by the Ministry of Youth.
The development of turf in Maafaru football ground has been contracted to the Maina Sports Field Pvt ltd.
The signing ceremony took place on Thursday. On behalf of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister, Mohamed Azmeel signed off the papers for the agreement, while the managing director of Maina Sports Field Pvt ltd Mohamed Shauya, signed on behalf of the company.
The turf work of Maafaru football ground is worth MVR 3,814,219 (three million eight lakh fourteen thousand two hundred and nineteen) and the work has been contracted to Maina Sports to be completed within 55 days from the day the contract has been made.
The government of Maldives has developed 8 football grounds in different islands. The Ministry of Youth, sports & community empowerment has said that 20 more football grounds will be completed by the end of this year.
While the government is striving to fulfil its goal to support the sports industry, Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is trying to conduct 2023-2024 Dhivehi Premier League to open for the whole Maldives with Home and away rules.
Moreover, due to the more numbers of football grounds in Maldives, it is going to change the football system to rules to home and away rules and it is going assist in the process to find talented players across the Maldives.
