Spain defeated England in the grand finale on Sunday, finishing off a tournament that has broken attendance and TV records and there has been a rise in interest for the women,s game.

Co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the ninth edition of this tournament saw its finale go right down to the wire. Spain emerged victorious after the only goal was scored by Olga Carmona in the 29th minute. In an interview, Carmona stated, "We suffered, it was a difficult match (but) we always thought we were going to make it."
