Maldives has got the opportunity to host the Commonwealth Youth Tour TT tournament and the South Asian Junior & Cadet TT Championship in August 2021.
Maldives has had great achievements in TT in the past few years. The two international tournaments will be a great opportunity for the development of new and promising players.
In the Indian Ocean Island Games, Maldives women Table Tennis team has won 3 gold medals and has won a bronze medal in the South Asian Games. Table Tennis is one of the most promising sports in Maldives.
TT Association has confirmed, Konstantinos Costopoulos as the Head Coach of Maldives National TT teams. Konstantinos Costopoulos will train players, especially the juniors for the Commonwealth Youth Tour & South Asian Junior & Cadet TT Championship in August 2021.
Konstantinos Costopoulos has coached the Greece national TT team. He is good experienced coach who has won great achievements in Europe.
Due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the TT events have been halted. The government has opened a TT facility in Hulhumale’ in order to assist the training of the players. TT Association has thanked Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof for his support to developing sports in Maldives.
