Skilled midfielder and State Minister at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ashad ‘Adubarey’ Ali has signed onto Club Eagles.

The club sought Ashad’s knowledgeable contribution as part of its efforts to strengthen their squad for the upcoming AFC Cup qualifiers.

Ashad, 34, is currently participating in all of the team’s practice sessions, since signing on.

Club Eagles confirmed that Ashad will be playing for the team until the end of the ongoing football season.

Due to injuries attained after suffering a blow to the knee, the 34-year-old midfielder who took the spotlight during his time playing for the National Football Team, took a break, he was last seen active in the field during 2018, when he played for Club Green Streets.

Into the beginning of the ongoing season, Ashad was observed to have partaken in the practice sessions of Maziya Sports and Recreation Club.

Club Eagles is the sixth team Ashad will be playing for in the first division. He has so far played for Club Greet Streets, Victory Sports Club, VB Addu FC, New Radiant Sports Club as well as Maziya since launching his football career through Club Valencia.

Under his lead as the captain, New Radiant had bagged the championship at the Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League of 2015. Ashad also played a pivotal role in Maziya’s wins in the FA Cup 2014, Dhivehi League of 2016 as well as the Malé League of 2017.

Should Eagles win the round, the team will move onto the second round where players have to compete against Bangladesh’s Dhaka Abahani. Further, Eagles will move onto the playoffs against India’s Bengaluru FC if they claim a win against Bangladesh.
