The Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has made the decision to construct a motorsports facility on Thilafushi Island.
HDC has formally entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, allocating a designated parcel of 10 hectares in Thilafushi Phase II for the establishment of the motorsports arena. The signing of this agreement involved the Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Athif, and Deputy Minister Azmoon Ahmed. Also present at the signing ceremony was Mohamed Shamih, the President of the Racing Association of the Maldives.
During the signing event, Managing Director Athif disclosed that the motorsports facility will feature a top-tier racing track that complies with international standards. This arena will not only accommodate various racing disciplines but will also provide solutions to the challenges faced by young individuals due to the absence of a suitable motorsports area.
