The Election of Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) is schedule be held on 1^st April 2021. The last elected President of VAM, Mohamed Latheef has requested to postpone the election to 12^th April. However, the clubs haven’t accepted the request of him and has decided to conduct the election on 1^st April.

The Ad-Hoc Commission created by the main association of world volleyball FIVB and Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) has solved the problems in VAM and has set guidelines to conduct the election. After the decisions of FIVB, extra ordinary congress was held on 24^th March to get prepare for the electoral congress of VAM. The FIVB has requested to conduct the electoral congress of VAM on 1^st April.

There are only nine teams, which can vote in the election. FIVB has decided to give opportunity for the teams, which has played at least one tournament regularly between 2015 and 2018. The clubs which can vote in the elections are Dhivehi Sifainge Club, Police Club, Addu Sports Club, Sports Club Hawks, Goodies Sports Club, Maldivian Sports and Recreation, Youth New Generation, Sports Club City and Club Half Line Linkage.

The last elected president of VAM requested to postpone the VAM election to 12^th April, since he is competing in the Local Council Election this year. However, the clubs didn’t accept his request and wants to solve the problems in volleyball as soon as possible,

While VAM’s new election preparations are ongoing, Latheef has decided to withdraw from the upcoming VAM election this year.
