Club Eagles coach Shaazlee has said that, the club has good squad and the Club Eagles is fully ready for the AFC Cup qualifying preliminary first round match in today, against Bhutan’s champion Thimphu City FC.
Club Eagles got the chance in the qualifying round, since the club has won the second place in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL). However, when the DDPL was halted in 3rd February 2021, the club faced great difficulties for preparing the team. In 25th February 2021 the club got the chance to start the training and 26th march the DDPL was resumed. Therefore, the club got two matches in DDPL to prepare for the today’s match.
Before today’s match, in news conference Club Eagles coach has said that he is not thinking about the difficulties faced in the past and in DDPL Club Eagles got 2 matches to prepare and the club is fully ready for the today’s match.
To make the club stronger, Club Eagles has signed good players in last transfer market. In that, club Eagles has signed, Lebanon’ goal keeper Mohamed Taha, Russia’s forward Vladislav Korminsh and Club Green Streets Egypt’s Defender Alsaeed Mahmoodh has also signed to the Club Eagles. Club Eagles also signed the Maldives experienced midfielder and State Minister of Youth Minster Assad Ali.
If Eagles Club win first match in AFC cup qualifying round against Thimphu City today, the Eagles Club has to play against Dhaka Abahani from Bangladesh and if they win against Dhaka Abahani and to qualify to the group, Eagles Club will most probably play a playoff match against India’s Bengaluru FC.
The team which wins the AFC Cup qualifying round will get the last spot in AFC Cup group stage. From Maldives Maziya Sports and Recreation has qualified since the Maziya has won the DDPL last year. The other teams which have qualified to the group stage are India’s Mohun Bagan and Bangladesh’s Champion Bashundhara Kings.
Club Eagles will play against Thimphu City FC in AFC Cup qualifying preliminary round in today’s evening at 16:00.
