AFC Cup Qualifying preliminary second round, Club Eagles and Bangladesh’s Dhaka Abahani match will take place in Nepal.
Due to increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh, Bangladesh has been in lock-down and the AFC Cup Qualify Preliminary second round match couldn’t take place. Enough support was provided by the Bangladesh Health Ministry to host the match in the Bangladesh. Therefore, AFC decided to conduct this match in a neutral stadium and has given the opportunity to the Dhaka Abahani to set a stadium.
After that, Dhaka Abahani tried to play in India, but in the last minute the team applied to play in the capital of Nepal. Therefore, AFC has finalized to conduct the match in Nepal and sent notice to the two teams.
Dhaka Abahani Manager has said that, the team is trying to reach Nepal as soon as possible and they are facing difficulties since Bangladesh’s airport transportation has been halted.
Club Eagles has won the first round in AFC Cup qualify preliminary round. Club Eagles won against Bhutan’s Thimphu City FC in a score of 2- 0. If the Club Eagles win against Dhaka Abahani, Eagles will play a play-off round against India’s Bengaluru FC.
Whoever wins the qualifying round they will get the last spot in the group stage. From Maldives, Maziya is in the group stage and other teams in the group stages are India’s Mohan Bagan and Bangladesh’s Champion Bashundhara Kings.
