Football association of the Maldives (FAM) has decided to build 16 turfs in different islands of Maldives. To build 100 good quality football grounds is one of the promised vows in Mr. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s manifesto. The government had already renovated existing 10 football grounds and put turf.
On a press conference held on the National football ground last Wednesday, president of FAM, Mr. Bassam Adeel Jaleel, stated that in accordance to the governments vow to build 100 football ground, in contribution to this FAM has decided to establish 16 turf grounds in different islands of Maldives. He also stated that all the 16 turfs will be FIFA approved turfs, fences would be around the turfs, lights will be installed so that practices could be held at night and also electronic scoreboards will be installed.

In this press conference Minister Ahmed Mahloof said that they are already working on establishing 75 football ground and they are criticized because of the increased number in football grounds they are establishing. However, this will bring a bigger achievement to the Maldivian Football.
FAM has also decided to hold the Dhivehi Premier league which is to be held in 2023 -2024, in different parts of Maldives. This league will be carried out a a home and away technique.
